WoW Forever Final Race Changes Revealed: IGGM Breaks Down the 5 Races and Best PvE Picks

With less than a week until the official launch of WoW Forever, the official team recently announced the final round of racial abilities and traits adjustments.

Meanwhile, weapon specialization racial traits have been officially abandoned: Human’s Sword specialization and Orc’s Axe specialization will not return because future raid and dungeon loot tables should not require the use of a specific weapon type as a prerequisite for gear selection.

Based on this principle, IGGM.com will provide a detailed breakdown of the trait adjustments for the five races: Human, Dwarf, Tauren, Orc, and Skyborne, analyzing the impact of these changes on different classes and PvE performance, helping players choose a race that better suits their class and playstyle before the official launch of Forever.

WoW Forever Final Race Changes Revealed IGGM Breaks Down the 5 Races and Best PvE Picks

Human: Ruthless Reduced, Spirit Compensated

Human’s Ruthless chance has been reduced from 2% to 1%, while Human Spirit has been increased from 5% to 10%.

For DPS specializations like Human Warrior, Rogue, and Hunter that rely on critical strikes, this 1% loss is a significant one. Humans were long considered one of the optimal choices for Alliance in the beta, largely due to the consistent critical strike benefit provided by Ruthless, regardless of weapon limitations.

WoW Forever Human

The compensation, focusing on Spirit, is more favorable to Healers but offers little alternative for pure DPS. The community race rankings still place Humans in the S tier for PvE, arguing that the 1% critical strike chance plus 10% Spirit makes Humans the most versatile Alliance race. However, from a purely DPS perspective, this adjustment is indeed a minor nerf.

If you still prefer Human as your DPS race after the official launch, you may need to invest more WoW Classic plus gold to perfect your gear and compensate for the impact of the nerf to critical strike bonus.

Dwarf: 1% Hit for 2% Crit Damage

WoW Forever Dwarf

Dwarf’s Earth Fury (2% additional critical strike damage and healing) has been completely removed, replaced by the new passive Artisan’s Precision: spell and attack hit chance increased by 1%.

Under WoW Forever’s gear and hit chance mechanics, 1% hit chance is far more valuable in the endgame than 2% critical strike damage – insufficient hit chance means skills will be dodged/parried/resisted, while hit chance directly determines whether damage and healing can land reliably.

Dwarf thus shifts from a critical strike damage specialization to a hit chance stabilizer, which is beneficial for physical DPS, caster DPS, and healers. If there’s one clear winner on Alliance side in this round of adjustments, IGGM.com believes Dwarf is the strongest contender.

Tauren: Movement speed cap increased to 60%, raid DPS bonus removed

WoW Forever Tauren

The changes to Tauren are the most striking on paper: Plainsrunning doubles from 1% movement speed per stack to 2% per stack, reaching a total speed increase of 60% (from 30%), but no longer applies to mounted movement speed.

The problem lies with Endurance: it’s been compressed into a pure 5% increased Health, with hit chance and critical damage modifiers completely removed. This means Tauren no longer provides any direct DPS boost in raid environments.

For tank specializations like Bear Druid or Protection Warrior, 5% health is still valuable; but for Tauren players aiming for DPS contribution, this round of adjustments effectively pushes the race from having a slight DPS contribution to a purely survival/mobility-oriented race.

When choosing a tank build, while the 5% bonus health improves survivability, subsequent gear choices still impact actual tankiness. To acquire necessary gear more quickly, you can buy WoW Forever gold to supplement your budget.

Orc: Savage Removed, Command Returns, Blood Fury Remains a Key Weapon

WoW Forever Orc

Orcs lost Savage (1% critical strike chance) but regained Command: Warlock and Hunter pet damage increased by 5%.

For Orc Warlocks and Orc Hunters, this is a targeted buff; for Orc Warriors and Orc Rogues, the loss of the 1% critical strike chance received no equivalent compensation.

However, Orcs’ core strength has never been just Savage. Blood Fury remains, and in a subsequent update, its cooldown was reduced from 3 minutes to 2 minutes. The 10% attack power/spell power buff lasting 15 seconds is far more valuable in the burst window than the 1% passive critical strike chance.

Therefore, in the view of IGGM.com, Orc remains a powerful racial ability option in both PvE and PvP, only the general critical strike benefit for non-pet classes has been removed.

Skyborn: Haste reduced, Read Leyline restricted in raids

WoW Forever Skyborne

The new Skyborn race in WoW Forever has undergone the most adjustments.

Wind-Blessed’s haste bonus has been reduced from 3% to 2%. More importantly, Read Leyline’s base effect has been reduced from 100% mana and health regeneration to 50% for 15 seconds; it cannot be used during Innervate’s active period, and Innervate will directly replace it as a stronger effect.

The compensation is that using Read Leyline near Leyline will grant Attuned for 1 hour, restoring Read Leyline’s healing effect to 100%, and Attuned persists after death.

The corresponding Skysight on Horde side has had its movement speed increased from 10% to 15%, and using it near elemental convergence grants a 1-hour Charged effect, raising Skysight’s speed boost to 30%.

IGGM.com believes the intention behind this design is clear – Skyborn’s powerful regeneration and movement capabilities remain usable in leveling and solo content, but in raid and dungeon environments, Read Leyline can no longer function unconditionally as a stable mana sustain engine.

Skyborn, from the powerful new race of early beta with 3% haste + 100% regen and virtually unlimited mana, has been brought back to a level requiring more scene management. For players considering Skyborn Druid or Skyborn Healer, this adjustment directly changes their mana sustain expectations in raids.

Going forward, players will not only need to adapt to the limitations of Read Leyline’s use but should also allocate WoW Forever gold wisely, considering mana regeneration, consumables, and other needs to cope with subsequent raid challenges.

As the official launch of WoW Classic Plus approaches, IGGM.com will continue to monitor the performance of each race in the actual PvE environment to help players make more appropriate choices based on their class roles and gameplay needs.
